Dallas Senior Cpl. Troy Allison Hit A Handcuffed Man To Pose Him For A Photo, Affidavit Says
A Dallas Police senior corporal turned himself in on an official oppression charge — and the arrest affidavit says the reason was to pose a handcuffed man’s head for a photograph.
Troy Allison, 48, badge 9442, has been with Dallas PD since April 2008 — 18 years, most of them in the North Central Patrol Division. On June 4, prosecutors say a man was already under arrest and receiving medical treatment from Dallas Fire-Rescue when Allison grabbed him by the neck and hair to turn his head into position. The man told investigators it caused pain and made it hard to breathe.
Then, according to the affidavit first obtained by FOX 4, Allison hit him in the head multiple times with a closed fist. The man was handcuffed for all of it.
The photograph question
The affidavit never explains what kind of photograph it was, who it was for, or where it was supposed to end up. That question — what photo was worth this — is the unanswered center of the case.
Allison turned himself in October 6 and was booked into the Dallas County Jail. The charge is official oppression under Texas Penal Code 39.03, a Class A misdemeanor: up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine. Dallas PD put him on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. The department’s public statement runs three sentences.
The 2026 pattern
Allison is the sixth Dallas officer criminally charged in 2026 alone, per Hoodline’s tracking: Toriana Edwards (March), Joshua Gonzalez (April), Armando Jaramillo (June, fired), Robert Huynh (July, official oppression), Ronald Maillet Jr. (September, leaking video) — and now Allison (October).
What we’re watching
Bond conditions and a court date had not appeared in any coverage at publish time. Whether Dallas PD fires him before the criminal case moves. And whether the photograph itself ever surfaces — if it exists, it is evidence.
Allegations per arrest affidavit and outlet coverage; Allison has not entered a plea. New police accountability cases daily on Oh Dang Really.
