Texas Cop Fired For Dragging Mom By Her Hair At Pool — She's The One Facing Charges

A Royse City, Texas police officer was fired after viral video showed him dragging 35-year-old Janiaca Wheeler across a lawn by her hair at the Creekside community pool on August 3, 2026. But in the same announcement, the department referred Wheeler — the woman whose hair he pulled — to the Collin County District Attorney for resisting arrest and interfering with public duties.

Her 18-year-old daughter, Amaiyah Allen-Smith, was cleared. Three other officers at the scene were cleared. The officer-worn camera footage remains sealed — the family’s attorney says it shows something worse than the viral video.

Advocates with the Next Generation Action Network identify the fired officer as Robert Crider. The department never released his name.

What’s your take — should the DA charge her, charge him, or drop the whole thing?
