Major Robbie Silas, 59, of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in Augusta, Georgia was arrested by GBI agents and booked into the Wilkes County jail on pandering, solicitation for sodomy, and violation of oath by a public officer charges. When he was escorted out Tuesday morning, jail staff held blankets up to hide his face from news cameras.
Silas commanded the Special Operations Division and once ran for sheriff. GBI served a search warrant at his Hephzibah home; reporting says the case involves a male tenant who rents from him.
The same week, RCSO Investigator Sean Morrow and Deputy Jose Ferrer were arrested for searching license plates through plate readers for personal reasons, and were fired. Per 2023 NBC reporting, 33 RCSO employees were arrested in three years.
