Raleigh Detective Christopher Reed Arrested And Fired In One Day
An off-duty Raleigh police detective is accused of turning a night at a Wake Forest sports bar into a one-man crime spree — and his own department fired him before the sun came up on the news.
Detective Christopher Andre Reed, 32, an eight-year veteran of the Raleigh Police Department, was arrested this week after what court warrants describe as an intoxicated blowup at the Carolina Ale House on Northpark Drive. According to the warrants, Reed bothered staff and patrons, punched the bar manager, and tried to strike two more people on his way out. When a paramedic responded, warrants say Reed kicked him — earning a felony assault charge against emergency personnel.
It got worse at the jail. Officers wrote that Reed told them to fire at him during the arrest. By the end of the night he was facing six charges: assault on emergency personnel, assault on a government official, simple assault, resisting a public officer, intoxicated and disruptive behavior, and disorderly conduct.
The booking photo does the talking: one eye swollen shut, a bandage on his face, a torn collar. The department that trained him didn’t wait for a trial — Raleigh PD announced his firing the same day as the arrest, an unusually fast cut for an eight-year detective.
Wake Forest police handled the case rather than Reed’s own colleagues — the kind of conflict-of-interest handoff that exists precisely for nights like this one. He’s out on bond awaiting his first court date, where the felony count alone could put years behind the battered face in that booking photo.
One more Data Point for the pattern this site tracks: the badge doesn’t switch off at the bar door. Eight years of building a career, undone in one intoxicated hour — and this time the department actually enforced the standard the same day, instead of a paid-leave press release and an internal file that never surfaces.
