Walker Officer Hayden McKenzie Booked On Second Rape Charge After First Arrest
A second accuser, a second charge
Walker Police Officer Hayden McKenzie had already been arrested once, booked, and released on bond when the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office announced a second felony charge against him this week.
The 23-year-old officer, who has about two years on the Walker police force, was first arrested October 5 and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a charge of indecent behavior with a juvenile. Investigators allege the offense involved a 13-year-old and occurred in April 2025. The sheriff’s Special Victims Unit opened the case in August after a complaint reached detectives.
He bonded out after that arrest.
What changed
According to the sheriff’s office, once news of the first arrest spread, an adult woman contacted deputies and reported a sexual assault she says happened in April 2024 — a year before the case involving the child. Sheriff Jason Ard said that “based on evidence uncovered by our team, this investigation resulted in this new charge.”
That charge is second-degree rape, filed as a separate case with a separate accuser. McKenzie was processed back into the Livingston Parish Detention Facility this week.
Where the department stands
Walker’s police chief suspended McKenzie with pay following the October 5 arrest, citing the pending administrative investigation and the sheriff’s office charges. The department has not announced any further employment decision since the second charge was filed.
McKenzie is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The charges are allegations at this stage, and both cases will move through the Livingston Parish court system. The second charge carries decades in prison if it results in a conviction.
What we’re watching
