Sheriff Stole From His Own Deputies to Feed Drug Habit — Judge Gives Max

Former Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright reported to federal prison after stealing $80,000 from a deputies’ benevolence fund to pay his drug dealer $600 a week. He also obtained 147 opioid pills under false pretenses and kept a ghost employee on the payroll. Judge Timothy Cain gave him the maximum: 41 months.
