Pickens Deputy And Firefighter James Long Reed Charged With Stalking
An Alabama deputy is facing felony voyeurism and stalking charges — and he wore two badges.
James Long Reed worked as a Pickens County deputy AND a Northport city firefighter. State agents arrested him September 16 after Sheriff Jordan Powell handed the case straight to state investigators instead of his own department.
The charges
Court records show one female victim. The charges: first-degree voyeurism and two counts of felony electronic stalking.
Sheriff Powell relieved him of duty the same day, saying “our badge does not place us above the law.”
He was first held without bond. Friday a judge set $100,000 — Reed paid it and walked free the same day.
Two badges, three felonies
Patch confirmed Reed was still employed as a Northport city firefighter at the time of his arrest. Neither department has answered the obvious question: how did nobody catch this sooner?
